For our last party in Camden for 2013 we’re planning a festive affair with the closest of music loving friends!
First up is CDG’s JR aka Simon Bingham, Croydon’s finest DJ Kure and Miss Mavrik!
JR aka Simon Bingham
Bad Boy House DJ/Producer
Born and raised in South London, JR grew up listening to reggae and soul played by his parents which infused him with a love of the exotic and tranquil sounds true to his Jamaican heritage. His early musical influences came from a diverse range of artists and genres, from Michael Jackson to hip hop icon Snoop Dogg, to funk musicians Rick James, Herbie Hancock and Steve Arrington as well as ska and disco.
However, it was his older brother, legendary DJ Grooverider who initiated his introduction to the synthetic basslines and sounds of electronic music which had him instantly hooked. He counts his brother as a huge inspiration as well as house giants Carl Craig, Roger Sanchez, Eric Morillo – it was later when taken by his brother to an outdoor rave at a very early age that JR was hit with the realization that house music was his passion and spelt the beginning of his DJing career.
JR has enjoyed success playing numerous top London venues renowned for their house DJ sets such as Pacha, Brick House, Egg, Hidden and Lokee. He has recently played at the legendary Ibiza House Pikes. His burgeoning reputation on the underground house scene is rapidly being established with his residency at stylish McQueen, Shoreditch. He host’s the night ‘Coup De Gras’ where their atmospheric club mixes have become an instant hit with McQueen patrons, pulling in the crowds on a regular basis. JR is currently getting down to business in the studio working and mixing up fresh new sounds to delight club aficionados both in the UK and further afield on the international scene.
Growing up in Manchester gave easy access to it’s rising dance scene, inspired by pirate radio and the pioneering sounds of many upcoming DJ’s of the time, house music ignited a passion in this feisty northern girl and so Miss Mavrik was born.
From this dedication came the idea to invest in some decks. With years of hard work Miss Mavrik never gave up on her pursuit. After moving south to London her DJ debut came in early 2005 on the off chance that a friend needed cover. This was the start of numerous offers to play throughout London, the UK and abroad. During 2009 Miss Mavrik completed her 2nd season in Ibiza, also holding residencies in Istanbul, Rome, London, Madrid and St Tropez. That year saw her play at renowned superclubs around Europe ranging from Pacha to 360. She also travelled throughout Europe as resident DJ on The Fuel Tour, playing in over 13 countries in as many weeks. 2010 was equally convincing, playing a mix of club house/ progressive she performed in countries including Spain, Italy, Ibiza, Belgium, Russia, Bahrain, Poland, Syria, Dubai, Bosnia, Croatia, Germany, Luxembourg and France. Her genre being house and progressive meant that moving into this theme of production was undoubtedly the next step. Her first track release was a remix of the Tom Nevile and The Stafford Brothers single “Come my way”. Working alongside Juan Kidd to create a pumping house version of the track which was released on Toolroom Records early last year. Miss Mavrik’s track “Road to Hell” was released on Prozaic Records in November 2010, while her most recent track with Daniel De Brujin and Amba Afra named “The Monday After” was released on Baroque Records. This year not only saw the start of Miss Mavrik’s own club night ‘Rewind’ but it also saw the start of several radio shows aired globally. She hosted a monthly session on m2o radio/Rome, the largest electronic music station in Italy and a weekly progressive session on London’s foremost underground radio station, Unknown Fm. The “Rewind” party held @ The Light Box (London), was a collaboration between Miss Mavrik and 4 DJ/ producers from Italy and Germany, enticing the finest of London’s underground revellers. Guest DJ’s have included the likes of James What, Dan Berkson and Arnaud le Texier. This allowed her to play the music she loved and has taken her from club performances to international tours playing alongside artists such as Xpress 2, Smokin Jo and Felix da house cat. That summer she headlined at events which included the likes of Fedde Le Grand, Laidback Luke, Afrojack, Tom Craft, Benni Benassi and Chuckie. Moving on to 2012 came ‘Haymaker’, a collaboration with Pi Mandrake was released on Lowbit Records in May. This track received strong tastemaker support with Jaytech listing it in his showcase of new upcoming, underground progressive talent. With another busy schedule of international gigs her summer season concluded with a 4 date tour of Brasil. This took her from Rio, Sao Paulo, Brasillia and Belo Horizante, playing to packed out venues at the likes of Deputermadre and Q5 Club. This trip was succeeded by another trip to the America’s one month later where she played to a full house at Plaza Condeza, Mexico City. 2013 started with a world tour kicking off in Chile for Hedkandi. Further bookings & productions are scheduled for this summer, while her most recent release in June was called “The Drive”. A collaboration with EQO released on Dutch Electro label ‘strangers in Paradise’. Alongside of her dj work and radio work Miss Mavrik turned her hand to the television studio, cast to appear in 6 episodes of ‘Peter Andre’s Bad Boyfriend Club’on ITV2. Acting on the panel of judges she helped to decide who were the winning contestant’s in the competition each week. The show was aired for 6 weeks throughout summer. She has also appeared as the face of Kam Dj Equipment and The OODJ, while she shot the cover for Trend Music Magazine (Italy) and appeared as the May calendar addition for Calendance Music Magazine (Italy). Miss Mavrik is not only one of the key buzz names on the house DJ circuit to date but she represents what hard work and talent sounds like. The abbreviated name ‘Miss Mavrik’ portrays exactly the brand that she encompasses. An effortlessly cool, confident and independent individual. Someone who does not abide by the rules and above all is a player of many hands. – See more at: http://www.missmavrik.com/biography/#sthash.h0HKq20D.dpufr
